Mr. H
Medical History: Mr. H is 77-year-old gentleman who suffers w/ chronic bilateral lower extremity venous insufficiency (deep system disease). Mr. H presented multiple lower extremity venous leg ulcers on May 16, 2003. Mr. H. was quite a challenge considering he also has some type of micro vascular disease effecting the arteriloles in distal parts of the lower legs which has not yet been isolated to a specific diagnosis (idieopathic).
Mr. H. was treated initially w/ "Oasis" (SIS) Collagen Wound Matrix, biological wound dressing. Unfortunately, this wound treatment was not successful. Mr. H. was also treated w several other conventional methods of topical wound care. Mr. H. also utilizes short stretch compression bandaging and utilizes vasopneumatic therapy with a sequential pneumatic compressor (Lymphedema Pump).
Amino-Plex®, manufactured by Bio2 Cosmeseuticals was initiated as primary form of wound treatment. The Amino-Plex® was dispensed to Mr. H in 1 oz spray bottles and was asked to apply this topical wound treatment solution BID q 12 hours daily. (4-5 sprays and allows to dry for approximately four minutes). Circaid Velcro compression systems were used in an effort to allow Mr. H. to comply w/ daily treatment Short stretch compression bandage systems would not be a practical method of compression therapy.
As indicated by the photos Mr. H.'s wounds healed remarkably within two weeks. Mr. H.'s venous leg ulcers of mixed etiology had partial and full thickness damage. We are please to report that Mr. H utilizes Amino-Plex® daily as a form of his skin care. Larry LoDico, Certified Wound Specialist |
