 OBESE VENOUS DISEASE
 AND AMINO-PLEX®

M.

This is a morbidly obese 42 year old female with venous disease presented to this office on March 24, 2003 for treatment of a non-healing venous stasis ulcer. She stated that she had seen various physicians for treatment of this ulcer over the last 4 years. She stated that she tried us (Smithville Podiatry) because we were wound care specialists and hopefully the results would be better.
This venous ulcer was treated wit our usual protocol: Cleansed Cultured Debride Dressing

topical antibiotic ointment

Adeptic

3 layer compression dressing

After 2 months of very slow progress the treatment was changed to a topical silver dressing on Mondays and Hyalofill-F dressing on Wednesdays for the next month. The ulcer during the course of treatment before biO2's Oxy-Mist treatment system decreased in size from 4.0cm in circumference to 2.5 cm in circumference. Twice during the course of treatment before biO2's Oxy-Mist treatment system I applied a Xenograft which was not successful. It did not take and at no time could I get this diptrophic granular base ulcer to epithelialize.

July 29, 2003 I started the biO2 Oxy-Mist treatment and the ulcer epithelialized and closed with just 7 treatments over a 2-week period of time.

August 6, 2003 the patient used biO2's Amino Plex spray at home in addition to the in-office Oxy-Mist treatment one time per week until discharged on September 5, 2003.

September 5, 2003 this ulcer is still closed and the skin is gaining strength, integrity and thickness. She now is wearing compression hose without any dressings and has resumed her normal activities.
